little rx15 drum pack

'little rx15 drum pack' is a small sample pack made with the yamaha rx15.

the rx15 was originally made in 1984 as a cost effective version of the rx11. released around the same time as the lm-1, pop music would soon shift to a brighter, synth sound, and sampled drum machines would help define the era

each sample was recorded by taking the stereo outputs of the rx15, running them through a mackie 32-8 mixer for initial eqing, thru the scarlett 18i20 into ableton live where they were left unmixed, save for som slight gain modification.

each loop was made by loading each sample into ableton drum rack, then penciling in midi notes, effectively turning a midi clip a step sequencer. what's brilliant about this approach it that this is a decent workaround for what I feel are the 2 shortcomings of the rx15 (no line outputs and no tuning). this also allows for deep creative control through filtering, envelope and pitch control, individual and bus effect, etc.
